UPDATE: Microsoft published a clarification on October 13 following the events and announcements described in this article.

Dynamics GP will cease to get feature enhancements following the October 2022 release, Microsoft confirmed today. Speaking to the GP user and partner audience at the Community Summit North America event today, Microsoft VP for SMB business applications Mike Morton broke the news, but reiterated the company’s commitment to keep GP on the Microsoft Modern Lifecycle through 2028 “and beyond”.

Morton displayed a slide during his presentation titled “Update plans for Dynamics GP” that stated in stark black wording on a plain white background:

Microsoft will continue releasing Dynamics GP regulatory (tax) and security updates, but the October 2022 release was the last release adding other new features.

Business Central will be the focus of Microsoft’s investments in the SMB segment. If you want to transform your business, we recommend moving to Business Central.

“We're very committed to the product and community whether you stay [on Dynamics GP] or move to Business Central, but we want you to understand the tradeoffs as part of that,” he said following the reveal.
