Microsoft has published their 2024 release wave 2 plans for Dynamics 365 and Power Platform. These plans will identify specific feature plans and broader product priorities planned between October 2024 to March 2025.

Each release wave offers a huge volume of planned updates, both for production and preview features across each app and service. For Dynamics 365 applications, updates all include a blend of Copilot-focused capabilities and other improvements. Contact Center is the newest addition to the portfolio and will see a range of GA features arriving in this wave. The longest running apps like Sales and Customer Service will see new Copilot-branded interfaces, improvements to data access, and more. Autonomous ERP themes continue with D365 Finance and Supply Chain Management as the team rolls out more copilot-based capabilities with a focus on automation, forecasting, and traceability, among other areas. Customer Insights – Data will be aligning better with Microsoft Fabric data sources and formats. And mixed reality capabilities in Remote Assist will continue to improve in the context of Teams, HoloLens 2, and other interfaces.

“The upcoming wave is centered around utilizing advanced AI and Microsoft Copilot technologies to enhance user productivity and streamline operations across diverse business applications,” wrote Ryan Darby Martin, director of PM for “Business and Industry Copilot” at Microsoft.

Let’s look at some of the notable improvements coming to the Dynamics 365 applications in 2024 release wave 2. As always, the full list of preview and GA features revealed is length, but Microsoft is likely to reveal at least a few other notable updates for products in the upcoming months.
