A Last Look at 2010: The 10 Most Important Microsoft Dynamics Developments of the Year

With 2011 well underway and the conference season ramping up and sure to bring new Microsoft Dynamics news, opinion, and analysis, we wanted to take a moment to look back at the most important news of the past year.

Several themes dominated the Microsoft Dynamics landscape in 2010, most notably the updates to the Dynamics partner certification rules, the competitive battles with the likes of Salesforce.com and Netsuite, and new releases for Dynamics GP and NAV. 

There were plenty of other stories and opinions in which our readers took a noticeable interest in 2010.  Each Dynamics product and its respective ecosystem seems to demonstrate a unique character of sorts on MSDynamicsWorld.com.  Dynamics GP seems to have the most collaborative and supportive community, as evidenced by the outstanding collection of informational and educational pieces written by GP experts and MVPs. 

Dynamics AX and CRM contributors to the site tended to be more strategic in their focus on vision and solution architecture-sensible perhaps due to the broader solution options that these products enable. Topics like two-tier architecture, data migration, EDI, customization, and application platforms dominated the conversation.

Our Dynamics NAV coverage largely seemed to focus on the evolving implementation possibilities, including the use of Sure Step, as well as the cloud potential of NAV.  Compared to other Dynamics ERP products, hosting of cloud-based Dynamics NAV solutions could very well gain traction fastest as Dynamics partners use its lower cost licensing options and strength outside of North America to reach out to smaller business in various regions of the world.
