Executive Q&A: Tribridge on the cloud-friendly public sector vertical

At Inspire 2017, Microsoft presented six key verticals the company will target near-term and government was included.

The public sector? The notoriously slow-to-turn technology laggard among verticals?

It is true that perhaps it has been slower to adopt new technologies than other industries, but no more, says Josh Jaquish, vice president of public sector at Tribridge. The public sector first proceeded to the cloud with caution with its least sensitive information, and since seeing success, have rapidly begun including mission-critical applications and data. In fact, Tribridge has built a practice around Dynamics 365 with both implementation and IP for public sector. 

As Jaquish describes to MSDynamicsWorld, partners will find an industry eager for digital transformation.

MSDynamicsWorld.com: Is the public sector becoming more motivated to adopt new technology?

Josh Jaquish: Overall, the private sector still leads government in terms of new tech adoption. Government is a bit more risk averse and budget conscious, given its accountability to its constituents and election cycles. But with Microsoft's move to Dynamics 365, many agencies have tiptoed into the cloud and realized the risk they thought was there didn't come to fruition. The fact that vendors are now compliant with various regulations like FISMA [The Federal Information Security Modernization Act of 2014] and CJIS [the FBI's Criminal Justice Information Services] means many government agencies are more comfortable with putting not only less critical applications on the cloud, but also applications that were recently considered high risk.
