Mobility for Dynamics CRM has advanced, but customers still require a trusted guide, Microsoft advises

In 2012, an eXtremeCRM conference in Las Vegas featured discussions about the growing trend of mobility in Microsoft Dynamics CRM. Flash forward two years, to ExtremeCRM 2014 in Las Vegas and mobility is more than a trend. Mobility is here, Microsoft Dynamics officials told about 400 attendees at this week's conference at Caesars Palace.

"Mobility is beyond the ‘new normal,'" said Microsoft's Richard Dickinson said, during his Mobility Strategy with Microsoft Dynamics session.

Dynamics CRM partners should look at how they could use mobility to simplify users' tasks, and enhance client interactions, Dickinson told attendees. Because workers check their phones 150 times a day, on average, companies should make sure they are using their phones in a productive manner.

And CRM's long history of upgrading thruogh phases or stages is a perfect fit for mobility, he added. The uses for Dynamics CRM are also changing and maturing.

"CRM used to be for white-collar workers only. But that's not true anymore," he explained.

Dickinson gave a few real-life example of how mobile Dynamics CRM could be used by electricians and engineers to communicate in the field and identify which transformers went down. Or sales associates, who work on a store's floor, can benefit by using mobile CRM.

"Dynamics CRM mobility is a suite of apps coming together for the end user," Dickinson said.

Dynamics CRM's standard mobile apps can be integrated with mobile devices such as IOS and Android, and used to enter sales notes voice in an iPad, for example.

"You can integrate it with different functionalities, such as using it with Skype to make a call," he added.
