Microsoft enhances Copilot Studio for broader automation, development scenarios: Build 2025
MSDW Insight: Microsoft is moving ahead with some of its key AI ambitions for enterprise software scenarios, announcing a range of updates at Build 2025 that will expand Copilot Studio’s toolset and push the autonomous agents story forward.

Microsoft is adding multi-agent capabilities in Copilot Studio, which will allow agents to delegate tasks to one another. Now in private preview but with plans to move to public preview, this capability will allow agents built with Copilot Studio, the Microsoft 365 agent builder, Microsoft Azure AI Agents Service, and Microsoft Fabric to all work together in more complex ways.
Writing about the announcement as part of Build 2025, Microsoft CVP for Copilot Studio Lili Cheng offered more perspective:
Imagine a Copilot Studio agent pulling sales data from a customer relationship management (CRM) system, handing it off to a Microsoft 365 agent to draft a proposal in Word, and then triggering another to schedule follow-ups in Outlook. Or, envision agents coordinating across IT, communications, and vendor systems to manage an incident from detection to resolution. Whether it’s executive briefings, customer onboarding, or product launches, agents can now operate in sync—bringing greater connectedness, intelligence, and scale to every step.
Copilot Studio also now supports bringing your own model for prompts and generative answers from Azure AI Foundry, Cheng revealed.
