Microsoft Introduces Mobile Express for Dynamics CRM

Microsoft has at long last announced the availability of Mobile Express for Dynamics CRM 4.0.

According to the Microsoft CRM Team Blog, which made the announcement, "Mobile Express gives organizations a Microsoft supported mobile solution with the power of choice: choices in the devices and in the networks they use when going mobile."

The announcement follows up on the company's stated intention nearly a year ago to produce its own version of a mobile option that accesses Dynamics CRM 4.0 installed on users' servers (rather than the mobile device). A number of Microsoft partners have produced their own mobile options, amid delays from Microsoft in getting its own mobile device out.

Signaling its intention to compete hard in this arena, Microsoft is making Mobile Express available as a free download to Dynamics CRM customers, supporting "the product's full customization and multi-tenant capabilities. Those capabilities allow organizations to deploy a CRM solution for one set of workers and, using the same software licenses and hardware, develop instantly mobilized xRM solutions for a wide variety of other business needs using point and click tools."

Reinforcing its commitment to openness, the CRM Team Blog even includes screen shots of Mobile Express running on an Apple iPhone.
