Microsoft Business Apps executive departing for Google
Microsoft veteran executive Satish Thomas is leaving the company after 20 twenty years and will be joining Google.
“I’m joining during what feels like one of the most consequential moments in tech history — right in the heart of the AI era,” he wrote on LinkedIn in announcing his new role.
Thomas has been one of the most visible and long-running leaders around Microsoft’s Business Applications over the last two decades. He has rotated through a range of management roles, often involving the Dynamics products or channel.
In recent years, Thomas has taken on programs that appeared to reflect the company's priorities of the moment like AppSource, industry clouds, new Dynamics products, and, most recently, AI agents. In his latest CVP role he has championed AI in Microsoft business applications, making the case in recent months for “AI-driven transformation” and encouraging partners and users to embrace Microsoft’s pre-built agents and MCP servers for ERP and CRM use cases.
“Nothing is guaranteed,” Thomas told a partner audience at a July 2025 event, “but let's go build the richest agent ecosystem and make Dynamics 365 the most ready biz app in the age of AI.”
