Dynamics 365 Licensing updates: Customer Voice and Sales Premium details revealed for August 2020

Microsoft has updated its Dynamics 365 licensing to address two new or updated products in August 2020. The newest offerings in the suite, Customer Voice and Project Operations, now have their own licensing guidance. The new Sales Premium offers a new bundle for existing services. And Microsoft plans are due soon for updates to other products.

Customer Voice

Customer Voice was formally revealed in July at Inspire 2020 and it represents an evolution of the existing Forms Pro product, re-focusing it as an enterprise feedback management solution.

The product name will change in the coming weeks for all existing customers, and they will see their existing environment updated to fit the model of Customer Voice, which introduces a project-based structure for managing surveys.

Forms Pro SKUs have been renamed to Customer Voice, and pricing will not change until January 1, 2021, the guide states. But existing Forms Pro customers and Customer Voice customers who sign up before December 31, 2020 will not see the price change.

Customer Voice is licensed per tenant and will be sold in bundles of 2,000 survey responses per tenant per month. The guide also states that the survey designer/editor must have a license on the tenant for one of the related Dynamics 365 Enterprise applications including Sales Enterprise, Customer Service Enterprise, Field Service, Project Service Automation, Marketing, and Human Resources.

Dynamics 365 Sales Premium

Dynamics 365 Sales Premiumis a new offer consisting of Dynamics 365 Sales Enterprise and Dynamics 365 Sales Insights. It will have a list price of $135 per user per month, which represents a $10 savings over purchasing the two items at list price.

Sales Premium became generally available on August 1, 2020. It can also be sold as an "attach SKU" at a lower price in combination with the full price licenses for either Customer Service Enterprise, Customer Service Professional, or Field Service.

Coming soon

While updates are published monthly, Microsoft has advised partners that more licensing changes are coming in October for Dynamics 365 Project Operations and Customer Insights.

Project Operations will become available on October 1 and its SKU will cover both Dynamics 365 Project Service Automation and Project Management Accounting from Dynamics 365 Finance. There will be grandfathering plans for that, with details being made available first to partners.

Also on October 1, Dynamics 365 Customer Insights is expected to offer new entitlements and production/non-production environments for purchase.
