Bluefort launches ARVO to support governed AI for Dynamics 365 Business Central extensions
Bluefort, a Microsoft ISV, announced that it has launched ARVO, a platform for governed, AI-driven build and delivery of AL extensions for Dynamics 365 Business Central.
Bluefort is offering ARVO in both partner and customer varieties. The service uses the organization’s own Azure AI Foundry deployment and can work with any AI model within Foundry. Bluefort does not charge for the AI consumption itself, and they provide minimum, expected, and maximum cost estimates for builds based on the size of the requirement, the chosen model’s token prices, and the limits set on the build, according to the company.
ARVO can shorten the delivery of BC customizations, Bluefort claims. They estimate that an extension that would traditionally require thirty days of work from initiation to delivery and deployment could require as little as five with ARVO.
“AI can already write code. The real challenge is turning a customer’s requirement into a solution a partner can confidently sell, deliver and maintain,” said Edward Borg Grech, Chief Executive Officer of Bluefort, in a statement.
Projects that use ARVO follow a seven-stage governed path, with gates requiring human signoff and five levels of testing. For partners, it produces a partner-branded evidence pack, a user guide for every role that will use the extension, and a “tamper-evident build receipt for each delivered extension, according to Bluefort.
Bluefort sees ARVO as a tool for more reliable AI-driven development that allows teams to focus on the value of the solutions delivered rather than the number of billable hours. For BC partners, they believe it can be used to execute on more client work with pricing that reflects today’s market conditions.
“Partners can charge for the value they deliver and keep the productivity gains AI creates, instead of giving them away through fewer billable hours,” stated Borg Grech.
AI-driven development efforts have been ramping up in the BC ecosystem for over two years, with some community-based efforts and a range of research and discovery efforts shared by individual devlopers. Bluefort’s approach with ARVO was to bring requirement analysis, design, generation, testing, approvals and deployment into one governed process, Borg Grech told MSDW.
“For a partner developing its AI capability, that provides a structured way to scale delivery. For an advanced partner, the value is making its delivery standards repeatable across the practice rather than dependent on a few specialists,” he said.
Bluefort expects different roles within a partner team to be relevant in the context of ARVO, Borg Grech explained. “Functional consultants play a central role: defining the business need, reviewing the proposed solution and judging whether it meets the customer’s requirements. Technical expertise remains important for complex decisions and exceptions,” he said.
And the firm believes ARVO will prove useful as part of either a customer engagement or as a pre-sales tool. For example, partners could take requirements from a prospect and turn around demo extensions quicker than they can today.
“Faster generation changes how the work is organised, but the partner still needs to understand the customer’s problem, agree scope and exercise professional judgement,” Borg Grech added. “The aim is to spend less effort producing and repeatedly reworking the implementation, while keeping the decisions that determine whether it is the right solution.”
