Yammer's Enterprise Social Software Now Integrates With Microsoft Dynamics CRM

Enterprise social network provider Yammer Inc. is now integrated with Microsoft Dynamics, joining a field of offerings that enable updates from Dynamics CRM in a company's social activity stream.

The move means that Dynamics users who use Yammer can now follow important Dynamics CRM records such as accounts, campaigns and opportunities and when these records change, an activity story describing the event is published in Yammer's Ticker in real-time, officials said. For example, when a sales rep closes a deal, a Dynamics activity story announcing the win appears in Ticker, notifying managers as it happens.

Universal search data from Dynamics will also appear in Universal Search, a search engine that lets users find information in Yammer as well as apps integrated into Yammer, according to officials. Universal Search, which works with both cloud and apps behind the firewall, is part of Yammer's goal to be the social layer across all business applications, officials.

Yammer is certainly not the first software maker to offer a vision of improved enterprise social capabilities  to Dynamics CRM. The latest version of Microsoft partner Neudesic's Pulse product integrates directly with Dynamics CRM's activity feeds, as well as SharePoint.  Pulse 3.0 builds on the first two releases by adding more granular controls to publishing and updating of social tasks and groups for focused online team building and collaboration, as well as improvements to the user interface. Given their deeper experience with Dynamics, they're likely to have a better story to tell around the idea of a social fabric inside and outside this specific application.
