Wind Energy Developer Goes Live with Microsoft Dynamics SL

Geronimo Wind Energy (GWE), a utility-scale wind energy developer based in Edina, Minnesota, has gone live with a Microsoft Dynamics SL implementation deployed by Boyer & Associates, the Minneapolis-based ERP solutions company reported.

Geronimo's goal is to develop wind farms that are farmer friendly, community driven and good for the environment in order to bring the benefits of renewable energy to rural communities throughout the US Midwest.

Earlier this year Geronimo realized it needed a more efficient way to track projects without using external tools such as spreadsheets that often require re-keying and reconciling to the accounting system, according to Jeff Ringblom, controller at GWE.

Although GWE's current requirements included strong, project-based financial reporting tools, it was obvious to Boyer that the company would soon need better tools to help manage projects proactively, ensure it was using its staff appropriately and offer unique billing options to its clients, according to Boyer officials.

"When that time comes, they will have the right tools. Many software solutions can produce financial reports by project; we wanted to make sure they are able to make the next logical step without having to repurchase another software program," said Jack Boyer, president of Boyer & Associates, in a statement. "Dynamics SL is the right tool for project-driven clients whether they simply need financial reports by project or whether they have the typical, more complex, needs of a mature project-driven firm."

Since Dynamics SL was implemented, GWE is able to import Excel-based expense reports from employees so that staff members don't need to re-key them into accounts payable, allowing them to hit the right projects consistently, according to the companies.
