Former MBS exec Quentin Clark joins SAP as new CTO

Quentin Clark's run as CVP of strategy for Microsoft Business Solutions (MBS) ended almost as quickly as it began, it seems. SAP announced earlier this week that Clark has been hired as SAP's new Chief Technology Officer, effective November 10, 2014.

According to an SAP news release, Clark's role includes serving as "SAP's technology ambassador," where he will drive direction and vision of SAP's future technology and shape SAP's brand.

With his departure from the Cloud and Enterprise group earlier in 2014, Clark could have brought MBS a sophisticated view of the future of data, business intelligence (BI) and analytics, as we wrote in June 2014 when the move was announced. But since that time Clark had not made any notable public appearances throughout the busy Microsoft Dynamics event season. And Dynamics professionals outside of Microsoft had heard little or nothing from or about Clark.

The SAP announcement also makes no mention of Clark's time in MBS, where he was virtually unseen by the outside world. Interestingly, Clark's move out of C&E and into MBS occurred probably just a few weeks after SAP's previous executive for products and innovation, Dr. Vishal Sikka, departed that company.
