Will Dynamics AX Help Major Office Supplier Out of Its ERP "Trouble"?

Microsoft Corp. announced that the country's largest independent dealer of office supplies, WB Mason, has selected Microsoft Dynamics AX to manage the company's business-critical operations processes, including management of finance, inventory, supply chain and market forecasting functions.

Microsoft, in its press release announcing the selection, quoted WB Mason's Office Furniture division president, Tom Golden, as stating: "Previous ERP systems we've tried to implement have had trouble
keeping up with the stressful demands of the market in the past...Microsoft Dynamics AX provides us with a very versatile solution, and having MBS Dev on board to support us will help ensure that our operations are running smoothly."

Microsoft also pointed out that "the ability to proactively manage purchasing, inventory and shipping decisions is vital to staying ahead of the intense competition among office supply industries. The selection of Microsoft Dynamics AX provides WB Mason with an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system that is more flexible than competing solutions and provides the best fit with the company's needs and overall character."

Implementation is being carried out by MBS Dev, Inc., a Colorado Value Added Reseller (VAR) and Independent Software Vendor (ISV) partner for Microsoft Dynamics AX.

WB Mason said it expects Dynamics AX to serve as "the foundation" for its expected annual growth in excess of 20 percent annually. It also said, the technology will enable enough increased automation that WB Mason will need to do less hiring than previously expected.

WB Mason said it also expects improved reporting and forecasting as well as seamless integration with other Microsoft technologies, allowing for implementation of a consistent set of services, such as unified order management, that will offer a common ordering experience for customers on and off the Web.
