Updates to Dynamics 365 media and entertainment accelerator adds Teams integration, content workflow support

Microsoft introduced the Dynamics 365 media and entertainment (M&E) accelerator in July 2020. It included a range of custom elements built on the Power Platform and Common Data Model with a focus on fan and guest engagement.

Version 2.0 of the M&E accelerator is out now and Microsoft principal program manager Martin Wahl explains that it adds new data model entities, apps, portals, and flows to support archiving, asset management, online and hybrid event broadcasting, and remote collaboration. It also adds a new model-driven application for events and venues and a content production solution.

Wahl explained that version 2.0 adds to the accelerator in areas including:

  • An expanded media data model to support online and hybrid live events
  • Microsoft Teams API integration for guests to participate in events through Teams
  • An events and venues model-driven application sample
  • A Power Apps portals template for fan-facing web sites
  • A content production management solution intended for production teams, ad agencies, special effects houses, and studios. It adds 15 data entities to the media data model

Some features, like ticket sales and advertising sales elements require Dynamics 365 Sales.
