Six Microsoft Dynamics GP Predictions for 2012

2012 is shaping up to be an interesting year for the Microsoft Dynamics GP community.   And what fun is the start of a new year without some predictions that we can look back on once it's all over?  So here are my predictions; they are not based on any secret MVP inside knowledge - just wild guesses based on spending way too much time with Microsoft Dynamics GP.

1.       You will continue to be sick of The Cloud

If anything you will hear more about The Cloud and Microsoft Dynamics GP in 2012. It looks like the Convergence/Cloud drinking game will become an annual event. It's not going away people so you'd better understand this cloud thing.

2.       GP '12' will rock

The next release of GP will be more than just cloud stuff. A bunch of things you want now are getting stuffed in there including printing improvements, Fixed Asset goodness, improvements to AR, AP, Bank Rec and more.  GP '12' will come later in 2012 so it will be cool in 2012 and impact your business in 2013.

3.       Lync will continue to have an identity crisis.

Microsoft's unified communication product, Lync, hooks into Dynamics GP to do some pretty cool stuff but Microsoft's purchase of Skype has a lot of people confused about where MS is headed. I think the confusion will hurt Lync adoption. I certainly could be wrong on this one with the recent release of Lync clients for Android, iPhone and iPad but ...
