Quit Skipping Convergence

It's time to quit skipping Microsoft Convergence.

I know a lot of people who only attend Microsoft's Convergence conference every other year. They try to time it with a major release. If there is a new release of Microsoft Dynamics GP out, they go, otherwise, they skip it figuring there won't be much new. That idea doesn't really work anymore.

The Dynamics GP team is releasing new functionality on a regular basis now. When I think about GP 2013, there was the core release (RTM) and a little over a year later we have SP1 and SP2, each of which added some important functionality. R2 is set to release a month or two after Convergence and there should be another update before GP 2015. Bottom line, the GP team is expecting to add around 120 new features to GP 2013 between release and end of life. That's a big deal.

Think of it this way, if you bought a new car and over two year period they added a 120 new features to your car, things like upgraded navigation, satellite radio, run flats, etc., you'd feel like you had a brand new vehicle. With GP 2013, you'll feel like you have a brand new ERP system.

But, if you only go to Convergence every other year it's tough to digest 120 new features all at once. Mariano ...
