PPCC25: Microsoft shows a year’s progress in accelerating vision of Apps + Agents + Copilot
Microsoft kicked off Power Platform Community Conference 2025 with a promise to accelerate its vision for apps, agents, workflows, and Microsoft Copilot.
Power Platform is being “reborn”, Microsoft president of Business & Industry Copilot Charles Lamanna told the audience as he kicked off a demo-heavy keynote session on day 1. Microsoft now has 56 million monthly active users of Power Platform, he said, and the team is now focused on a new generation of capabilities to get that number to 500 million.
AI was a key element of every application, workflow, and agent the product team showcased, and Lamanna told the audience that the progress in the last year reflects how the category for low-code platforms has changed.
“Low code as we know it is dead,” he told the audience, noting that the category looks quite different from when Power Platform began to take form ten years ago. The vision has always been to democratize development, he said, but in a world focused on AI in every aspect of business technology, Microsoft expects customers to apply today’s tools and services in new ways.
In the last year, AI-based tools have matured with smarter and more compelling results, Microsoft representatives demonstrated. Generative Pages have advanced with smarter pre-built capabilities and the ability to integrate multi-agent scenarios. They will reach GA this week, a Microsoft official stated.
A demo of Generative Pages from Microsoft principal program manager Miti Joshi showed the creation of a dashboard blending geo-location data, asset data, and more mature prompting. For example, one prompt updated the style the model used to create titles for entities. Another prompt allowed the author to set up a variable to access later in the code view of the page.
Ryan Cunningham, CVP for Power Platform, showed the audience progress the team made in the last year on Plan Designer, a solution for generating more complex applications in Power Platform. The service relies on prompting that takes the users through the various stages of software development, starting with requirements gathering, use cases, data architecture, and design.
