Portfolio Perspective: Microsoft CVP James Phillips talks leadership, product priorities ahead of spring 2018 releases
Microsoft was busy filling its MVPs' minds with the latest undisclosed product plans this week. Word has also emerged that spring 2018 product release plans will start reaching the public soon, with update on the status of Dynamics 365 Tenerife expected as soon as next week.
"Fasten your seatbelts," one Dynamics veteran just advised us. Or, as Microsoft corporate vice president for business solutions James Phillips said recently, "It is shaping up to be an unbelievably exciting year."
Phillips spoke to Microsoft MVP and Dynamics 365/CRM professional Mark Smith on a recent episode of CRM Audio's Dynamics 365 Practice Podcast, where he offered hints of what his team has planned in the next wave of business app updates, which spans Dynamics 365, Power BI, PowerApps, Flow, and Common Data Service (CDS).
The interview covered a range of topics from product vision to alliances to management style. Phillips appeared most hesitant to talk in detail about what's next for CDS, due, he said, to the range of different announcements still to come. He explained:
For sure the most exciting part about CDS is that we're starting to see real convergence now around it, both across the Microsoft portfolio and there are a number of partners lining up to support it with their solutions.
