Julie Yack, a Microsoft MVP, leader of Colorado Technology Consultants and the XRM Virtual community joined the MSDW podcast to talk about conferences, training and how to keep up with the Dynamics 365 product roadmap.
Reflections from the Business Applications Summit
Yack reflected on the Microsoft Business Applications Summit in July in Seattle.
It was an interesting event, but it was kind of the iteration of several past events, with a new name. I believe it came from Tech Conference, which was AX focused, and also from some Power conference, and then [Microsoft] realized there was a gap with the loss of Convergence.
Yack said she appreciated updates from the product team and the opportunity to engage with users, many of whom were encountering Microsoft's updated offerings for the first time. She added that she heard some discussion of another conference next year, although Microsoft has not formally scheduled one yet.
The XRM Virtual group
Yack leads the XRM Virtual group, together with several other Dynamics professionals about ten years ago. The group used Adxstudios' portal solution at the time to manage the group and its events.
The group quickly gained hundreds, and then thousands of members. With a recent infusion of new content, the group has increased its meeting cadence to twice a month. Yack explained:
