Partner Ready Software moves forward with Microsoft Dynamics NAV R&D on design pattern library
Microsoft and a group of dedicated Dynamics NAV developers have been building out a standard library of design patterns, an effort that has brought the Partner Ready Software (PRS) initiative into direct collaboration with Dynamics NAV R&D. The result so far is the release of at least seven published design patterns blessed by Microsoft, with several more drafted in the latest round of meetings.
If you've been following the Dynamics NAV team blog this summer, you'll already be familiar with these design patterns for NAV 2013 with names like Copy Document and Standard Journal. The patterns vary in the amount of structured coding required, but each descriptive blog post explains the pattern itself, a scenario where it can be used, and dives into the technical details, whether with code, a flowchart, or another way of explaining it. Several of the patterns already have reference implementations in NAV 2013.
