The Pace of Innovation: Does Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013 Offer the Right Reporting Solutions?

It's been a couple of weeks now since Decisions Spring 2012 and unfortunately I was unable to attend the Q&A after my presentation and also had to miss the Expert Panel. As an alternative I will provide answers to some of the most interesting questions here.

Reporting in Microsoft Dynamics NAV has been a fascinating domain, especially since NAV 2009 has made it more challenging. Some even dare to say it has become a nightmare. Because of the way report objects have been a part of Dynamics NAV for many versions, it is indeed a big step to migrate towards RDLC.  And with NAV 2013 coming out soon, the situation will become even more interesting.  For example, one change that might ease the "pain" in Dynamics NAV 2013 will be the upgrade from RDLC 2005 to RDLC 2008. This means many of the cumbersome workarounds required in Dynamics NAV 2009 are no longer required in Dynamics NAV 1023. But with new features also come new challenges.

But now let's start by answering the questions:

Can you elaborate more on conditional formatting? [AND] Can you explain more about conditional formatting and the possibility for inserting an image through a reference and not through a blob field?
