Microsoft Teams customers to gain new level of Dynamics 365 access

Microsoft Teams customers will gain additional permission to let their users view and edit Dynamics 365 data in Teams at no extra cost and without Dynamics 365 licenses.

The new level of access applies to the Dynamics 365 CRM-related apps, the company told MSDW.

Announced at the kickoff of Microsoft's annual Inspire partner conference, the change in licensing will "present an incredible opportunity for our partners to connect with the 145 million daily active users in Teams and expand their total addressable market," according to Microsoft executives Jared Spataro and Alysa Taylor in a blog post.

With the new licensing policy, the applicable Dynamics 365 apps become "one of Microsoft's first hero collaborative apps," according to Spataro and Taylor. "No other technology vendor offers this kind of integration and accessibility across the organization without the need to pay for multiple underlying software licenses."

Under the new approach, D365 users can invite anyone in the organization to view and collaborate on customer records within a Teams chat or channel. The policy is focused on CRM-related entities like sales opportunities, customers, contacts, and cases.
