Microsoft reveals 2025 Release Wave 2 plans for Dynamics 365 and Power Platform, focused on copilots and AI agents
Microsoft has revealed plans for the 2025 release wave 2 for Dynamics 365 apps and Power Platform services that aims to broaden pre-built agents and increase Copilot experiences.
Early access will begin on August 4, at which point the community can test and validate new features of this release wave. The features will begin reaching general availability on October 1, with regional deployments to follow. Feature plans are also beginning to emerge in Microsoft’s release planner online tool.
Ryan Martin, Microsoft Biz Apps senior director for community and evangelism, noted in a blog post that AI assistants and agents are prominent in this release. “AI assistants and agents not only help humans with day-to-day tasks, but also act as proactive partners to drive better business outcomes. Our upcoming release brings that vision to life, helping to make AI not just accessible but an essential component in daily operations,” he wrote.
Indeed, many of the top highlights across the apps and services, as described by Martin, fit Microsoft’s AI-focus perfectly. New features of Customer Insights – Data will “[enhance] Microsoft Copilot and agents with real-time, unified customer profiles” and Sales “brings the power of AI to help sellers achieve their targets and automate busywork,” while “Contact Center continues to enhance agentic and Copilot capabilities,” “Field Service will deliver AI agents,” and “Finance brings global-scale finance and agentic operations to our customers.”
Dynamics 365 Sales MCP Server will reach GA in October 2025. It can be used when building agents in Copilot Studio or through interactive tools that support the MCP client, including ChatGPT and Claude. It can be used to list leads, retrieve lead summaries, send outreach emails, and more.
Not everything in the announcement was about agents, and Microsoft will also be adding to core capabilities across the platform. For example:
