Send an email when a record is created in SharePoint using Power Automate

Writing on his blog, Muzaffar Ur Rahman pointed out that Power Automate lets you send emails when certain things take place automatically, i.e., when a record is created or when a record is updated.

In his blog post, Rahman focused on the Power Automate send email feature using Power Automate cloud flow. He stated that there are three different components that make an automation solution for sending emails using Power Automate: triggers, connector, and email content.

Rahman discussed these three components. He first explained triggers. He wrote that sending an email may be the only purpose of a flow or it could be one of the many actions a flow performs.

We need to identify which triggers the flow will run. This is the first step to creating any flow.

  • When an event occurs, or something changes in a system.
  • A specific day or a specific time.
  • It automatically starts the flow from any device.

He noted that the next step is to use the built-in connector to send the email using an email application. Finally, he stated that you have to provide the content for any email that Power Automate will be sending.

Rahman then offered a detailed example of how to send email when a record is created in SharePoint using Power Automate.

Boosting your Power Apps performance: practical tips and tricks

On the PowerApps911 blog, Shane Young focused on helping users boost the performance of their Power Apps.

He first explained why performance matters in Power Apps – when it comes to app development, a fast-performing app can make all the difference in winning and retaining your audience. Young then discussed race conditions in Power Apps –  bugs that happen when your app's processes don't complete in the order you expected. He also explained how to avoid race conditions.

Next, he wrote about the  N+1 problem, which occurs when your app makes too many unnecessary network calls, especially in galleries. He also noted how to tackle this issue.

Young also provided information about Power Apps performance training and other ways to boost the performance of your Power Apps.
