Microsoft launches new cloud regions in South Africa
Microsoft Azure cloud regions in Johannesburg and Cape Town have reached general availability and will begin delivering Azure, Office 365, and Dynamics 365.
The launch of these regions brings Microsoft's total to 54 worldwide, which it says is more than any other cloud provider.
Azure will be launched in the new datacenters in South Africa first. Office 365, Microsoft’s cloud-based productivity solution, is anticipated to be available by the third quarter of calendar year 2019, and Dynamics 365 is anticipated for the fourth quarter, according to Microsoft.
"Microsoft’s global cloud infrastructure will connect the new regions in South Africa with greater business opportunity, help accelerate new global investment, and improve access to cloud and Internet services across Africa," stated Tom Keane Corporate Vice President for Microsoft Azure, in an announcement.
