Microsoft, EY announce new strategic relationship focused on digital transformation, cloud

Microsoft and EY have announced a broad plan to partner on delivering business services on top of Microsoft technology with a focus on Azure-based solutions.

EY's announcement casts a broad vision for working with Microsoft Consulting Services and with customers - either to help achieve digital transformation ("accelerate into a highly digitally-enabled enterprise") or, for the more conservative organization, to provide incremental improvements ("optimize the investment in software they have made over the years" and "improve their return on investment"). And they support the "move to a more analytical, automated, cloud-based environment."

The announcement does not mention Dynamics AX or CRM as part of the solution mix. EY has had little involvement of note with MBS solutions in recent the years, despite being, in the words of Carmine Di Sibio, EY Global Managing Partner for Client Service, "one of Microsoft's largest customers and business service providers."

The renewed focus on industry solutions that is noted in the announcement might bode well, especially if Microsoft Consulting Services and EY are working jointly in industries in which the Dynamics industry team has a strong story tell.

Offerings currently available from EY using Microsoft technologies focus around program and portfolio management, cloud security for Azure and Office 365, predictive analytics, and "Digital Program Activation" based on EY's Future of Work methods, which supports the development, deployment, and adoption of software solution.
