Columbus IT Wins Major Deal in Russia with One of the Region's Largest Retail Chains

Columbus IT has entered into an agreement with a major food retail chain in Russia and the Eastern European region to deliver a business-critical ERP solution.

Based on Microsoft Dynamics AX, the solution lets the retail chain optimize and control its growing business in the region. Under the deal, Columbus IT will deliver a retail solution based on Microsoft Dynamics AX, strategic planning and implementation, consultant services and standard software, according to the company. The solution will be implemented in all of the retail chain's stores in Moscow in the beginning of 2012.

"Our recent agreement with the global food retail chain is particularly important for Columbus IT mainly for two reasons," said CEO Thomas Honoré, Columbus IT. "The Russian market is a strategic important market for Columbus IT - the growth opportunities are vast throughout the industry in the country and our exposure in the region is therefore crucial. Secondly, the global chain represents a great opportunity for us to get even closer to achieving our goal of becoming the leading supplier of business solutions for the retail industry globally."

The company runs 40 food stores in the Moscow region and plans to increase that number in the near future, according to officials. The chain has experienced an immense growth in the Moscow region-as well as around the world-over the last couple of years and the tendency seems to be continuing, according to the company. Because of that cost-efficient ERP solutions are becoming more important for the company's Russian retailers who need to operate more efficiently and become more transparent, the company said.
