Microsoft Dynamics GP Users Question the Future of FRx and Forecaster, Express Frustration On FRx’s Ease of Use and Flexibility

When might Microsoft replace FRx and Forecaster?

That was one of the questions that seemed of greatest interest to users of Microsoft Dynamics GP 10 when the first meeting of the New England GP Users Group met in Waltham, MA, last month. Technology and accounting officials from about a dozen local companies and nonprofit organizations assembled to trade experiences and ideas for making better use of Dynamics GP. They included a diverse group of organizations, ranging from an indoor sports facilities company to a software company to a state bar association.

High on their list of concerns appeared to be the question above posed by one user concerning replacement of FRx and Forecaster, which most said they use to drive Dynamics GP.  A consultant with Tribridge, a Gold Certified consultant for GP, was on hand  providing guidance to the group . As for when FRx might be replaced, she noted, "My understanding is that it is several years down the road," possibly as long as five years.  Past conversations with Microsoft officials confirm the same outlook.  Tribridge speculated that everything from FRx would likely be easily convertible into the replacement. "It will hopefully be better."

A common complaint was that FRx is so involved that, for accounting personnel who don't use it every day, commands and capabilities are quickly forgotten.  "If I don't use it a lot, I lose the skills," said one user.  "Same here," said another user. "If I don't use it, I forget commands."
