Why are Word templates only printing to the default Windows printer when selecting printer in the system dialog box?

On the Dynamics GP Support and Services Blog, Nicole Fiskum said that when you print any Word template to a printer it will auto print to your Windows default printer.

That's because Microsoft Dynamics GP prints the report into Microsoft Office Word, which then prints the template that was generated by GP, she said.

Fiskum said that currently GP can only tell Word to print the template automatically, but it can't tell Word which printer it should use. Consequently, whatever printer is set up to be the default Windows printer is the printer that Word will use by default - and that is where the template will print.

Lookup window tips

On her Tips, Tricks & Thoughts on Microsoft Dynamics GP from a Canadian Perspective blog, Jen Kuntz said that there are some hidden gems on Dynamics GP lookup windows that users often overlook.

Kuntz said that there are windows behind any magnifying glass icon in Dynamics GP. Their main purpose is to find or "lookup: a record, and use it or view it in another window.
