An update for Dynamics GP payroll and HR users

Writing on the Crestwood Associates blog, Mary Lenehan noted that in the upcoming year some  Dynamics GP users will be seeing changes as four modules in the human resources and payroll suites that provide existing functionality to GP installations will be discontinued in March of 2022. However, she stated that the core payroll and human resources products aren't changing.

The four modules are:

  • Payroll extensions deduction in arrears, payroll integration to payables, and overtime rate manager)
  • Advanced payroll
  • Advanced human resources
  • PTO manager

Users with licenses for the above modules can continue to use the product and receive support until March 2023.

In her blog post, Lenehan also offered several reminders for year end.

Error in Dynamics GP when purchasing requisitions

On his Azurecurve blog, Ian Grieve stated that recently he did some work to help a client upgrade Dynamics GP to the latest version on an isolated test system.

Although the client had previously deployed the reporting services and refreshable Excel reports deployed, it was unclear if they were still being used. As such, they weren't deployed during the upgrade until the client determined if they were still being used, according to Grieve.

However, while they were, waiting, the users went on with the user acceptance testing. However, when a user tried to purchase a requisition and create a purchase order, the user received an error message.

In his blog post, Grieve explained why the user received the error and how you can avoid it.
