Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2016 Spring Wave Will Extend Service Management, Add Portals

Microsoft will launch its spring wave for Dynamics CRM 2016 in the second quarter of 2016 with the introduction of new features and the integration of recently acquired technology.

Microsoft GM and Dynamics CRM product leader Jujhar Singh confirmed the timing and high level details in a new blog post. He announced that two recent acquisitions, FieldOne and Adxstudio, will be integrated into the product. The spring wave will also "extend ... service capabilities with the introduction of project service, which accounts for complex, multi-day service scenarios, compared to the typically shorter field service engagements." Project service will also provide optimized resourcing and intelligent, skills-based assignments, according to Singh.

Project service will cover project based contracts, planning, resource management, teim enad expense management, and project billing, according to the new CRM Roadmap site (powered by CRM Online 2016 and the new portal capabilities) that is also online now.

The broader vision on managing service delivery with Dynamics CRM reflects a "fundamental transition" in the market, writes Singh:

Companies are moving away from old models of selling separate products and services as single transactions to more comprehensive solutions that include service for those products.  Companies are now able to access not only their internal resources to perform service, but, increasingly, they can also leverage the skills and availability of third party resources.
