Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2 Achieves “Compatible with Windows 8” Certification

Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2 has successfully passed compatibility testing and has achieved the "Compatible with Windows 8" certification, according to Microsoft Corp.

As such Dynamics AX 2012 R2, set to be released on December 1, is now listed among the products that have been certified on the Microsoft Windows compatibility center site.

A product that receives the Compatible with Windows 8 certification has passed Microsoft testing criteria for compatibility with Windows 8. That means that Dynamics AX 2012 R2 has passed the Microsoft Windows Compatibility and Certification program and successfully completed a set of compatibility test cases covering areas such as Compatibility & Resiliency, Adhere to Windows Security Best Practices, Support Windows Security Features, Adhere to System Restart Manager Messages and perform a Clean, Reversible Installation.

Microsoft performs the testing using its automated Application Certification framework and tools.

One of the improvements the AX 2102 R2 release revolves around Microsoft Dynamics AX Role Centers. The R2 release will feature several new pre-configured roles, new database cubes, new business intelligence (BI) and reporting features picked up from the latest SQL Server technology, as well as interesting new options for things like Bing Maps integration.

And talk at the recent Dynamics AX Technical Conference was all about the upcoming Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2 release. There's a lot for partners to like about the software architecture to development tools to BI to retail to single-instance/multi-company management to master planning and more.
