Synchronous vs asynchronous workflows: Best practices for large data sets – part 1

On the Inogic blog, Sam Kumar wrote that every CRM pro has run into this: a workflow that works perfectly in testing but slows everything down in real use.

Running a synchronous workflow might seem simple, but it's not built for heavy loads. He pointed out that when you process large batches of records, the system can lag,  screens freeze, processes take forever, and error logs fill up with timeouts. In short, he stated that synchronous workflows aren't meant for big or complex jobs.

To fix this, Kumar wrote that you should use background operations. He explained what a background operation in D365 CRM is, why you should use a background operation, and how to use background operations in D365 CRM.
