Another major annual conference has been cancelled as Microsoft announced this week that Inspire 2020, scheduled for July 19 to 23, will not be held.

One of the pillars of Microsoft's annual event calendar, Inspire is Microsoft's main event for its partner channel, attracting tens of thousands of people from around the world to Las Vegas. Partners attend to gain direct access to Microsoft representatives for policy and product updates, as well as for training and all manner of networking opportunities.

The company is exploring alternative ways to connect the partner community, corporate vice president Gavriella Schuster stated. The event's registration was set to open today.

The cancellation is yet another blow to the event industry, which continues to see events cancelled or postponed into the summer months. Microsoft already cancelled its Business Applications Summit (MBAS) in May, converted its MVP Summit to a virtual event run with Teams, and will convert the Build 2020 developer conference to a digital event experience from May 19 to 21.
