Microsoft advises Dynamics GP payroll users on efforts to meet ACA compliance with GP 2013, GP 2015

The next year end updates for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013, along with the upcoming GP 2015, will include support for the generation of two new forms mandated by the US government as part of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

But experts say GP payroll's standard capabilities won't get organizations into full compliance with reporting or allow them to determine full-time eligibility status of some employees. The forms in question, Form 1095-C and Form 1094-C, document the availability of health coverage to employees.

Microsoft will not be supporting the creation of these forms for GP 2010, a company employee advised in an email to customers.

Helen Karakoudas of Sypnio Software, a vendor specializing in Dynamics GP payroll add-on solutions for ACA compliance, explains more about the employer mandate in a new blog post, including Microsoft's recent advice to GP payroll users about what the company will deliver:

"According to the employer mandate of the Affordable Care Act, the first form must be given every January, starting in 2016 (for most companies), to ACA-defined full-time employees, regardless of whether those employees were covered by an employer-provided health plan. The second form is the transmittal of Form 1095-C to the IRS.

‘We will do only the form, not the electronic reporting of this,' the [Microsoft email to GP payroll users] said, referring to the transmittal form, which is required for any employer who generates 250 or more of Form 1095-C."
