Event Preview: Microsoft Fabric Community Conference takes shape in Las Vegas
The Microsoft Fabric Community Conference launches this month at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, bringing the suite of cloud services and apps of Microsoft Fabric into focus.
The main conference activities take place from March 26 to 28, 2024, with workshops before and after. (MSDW is a media sponsor of the event.)
The organizers plan to make networking a central part of the event, with a Community Lounge in one of the MGM’s ballrooms offering ways to connect with fellow attendees. Throughout the event, the Lounge will feature networking, coffee, Q&A follow-ups, meet and greets, certification insights, and community initiatives. Additionally, attendees will be able to meet with Microsoft MVPs, user group leaders, and peers to share experiences and swap ideas.
The conference will also feature keynotes and sessions from Microsoft executives and senior managers representing the various elements of Microsoft Fabric itself. Highlights include:
- Microsoft Fabric Vision & Roadmap with Microsoft CVPs Arun Ulag and Shireesh Thota, CTO and Technical Fellow Amir Netz, and GM Wangui McKelvey.
- Data Culture and Technology Enablers: Nurturing a Data-Driven Organization with Microsoft CVP Jessica Hawk
- The Future of AI Is Already Here with CVP Eric Boyd
- Microsoft Purview for the Age of AI with CVP Rohan Kumar
The event will also include a range of breakout sessions geared to different parts of the community. A session by Meagan Longaria on March 26 will explore the problems some disabled people face with accessibility when using Power BI and talk about ways to enhance accessibility. Matthew Roche is slated to speak about his 25 year career as a trainer, mentor, consultant, and developer across self-employment and startups—and the challenges of planning along the way.
Microsoft Fabric reached GA in November 2023, taking a SaaS-based approach to deploying Microsoft’s cloud data and analytics services and BI tools. At that time, Microsoft reported that over 25,000 customers had tried the service.
