Dispelling Microsoft Dynamics AX Workflow Myths

If there's one thing that Murray Fife wants Microsoft Dynamics AX customers to know about their software's workflow functions, it's that setting up and using these functions is not as difficult as one might assume. In the recent webinar, Microsoft Dynamics AX workflows for financial automation: Improving process efficiency with ease, Fife dispelled the myths associated with Dynamics AX workflows and walked attendees through various scenarios to illustrate their ease of use and effectiveness.

A Dynamics AX veteran, Microsoft MVP, and I.B.I.S. Inc., solution architect, Fife showed how AX can serve as a viable starting point for automating financial processes and using its internal workflow and approval capabilities. He walked attendees through the process of adding approvals to ledger journals, implementing multi-level approvals on payables invoices, and managing collection case resolution processes.

"A lot of times people are daunted by workflows, or they assume it's a developer task, but that's not the case," Fife said, noting that many areas within finance are ripe to take advantage of workflows. He showed attendees how to take simple journal approvals and add more functionality to them by, for example, automating the approval and posting processes. And while many of the processes discussed involved the general ledger, journal, and payables, Fife pointed out that workflows can also be implemented for receivables and other areas of Dynamics AX.

The bottom line, said Fife, is that setting up workflow and approvals in Dynamics AX for managing financial processes aren't difficult and can help organize people and assign tasks along the way.
