The 2011 payroll tax changes are wreaking havoc with Microsoft Dynamics GP's 2010 payroll module closing and reports.  It is absolutely vital to get the correct payroll code and tax table changes installed in the correct sequence.  Here are the problems, what you should do if you've got these problems, and the correct sequence in plain English.

  1. You may have installed the tax table update without the tax code update first.  This is a major failure and "Un-do" is required.  Pray that you or your IT staff did a full backup of code and data before you started.  Un-do.  Re-do in the correct sequence.
  2. You may have installed the tax code update on only selected workstations.  All workstations and the server must be installed with all users out of GP while you're installing.  Finish installing code for the server and all workstations.
  3. You may have installed both the tax code update and the tax table update before running the Year-end process.  Another major failure!  Un-do!  Re-do!
  4. You may have done the code update, Year-end closing, and tax table update in the correct sequence, but now you're trying to run the 2010 payroll reports.  This won't work because the tax tables have been changed to 2011 percentages.

      2. (Go To) >>Microsoft Dynamics GP>>Tools>>Setup>>System>>Payroll Tax
      3. Input FICAS in the Tax Code field
      4. Click Filing Status
      5. Click the right arrow alongside ...
