BizTalk Server 2016 launch the last plank in Microsoft's hybrid integration platform

The Microsoft Server and Cloud Platform team has announced the release of Microsoft BizTalk Server 2016 - the tenth major release of the integration workhorse in 15 years.

This was one plank in the two-plank platform of Azure Logic Apps and BizTalk Server 2016, which together would be a comprehensive hybrid integration platform. Just in July, Microsoft announced general availability of Azure Logic Apps, its integration Platform-as-a-Service (iPaaS) offering that aims to tie together SaaS and on-premise enterprise applications using an organization's own rules and business logic. The value to customers: They can now connect to cloud-native applications, web and mobile back end systems, and custom applications through the Azure Logic Apps adapter.

Microsoft's Principal Director, Program Management Frank Weigel claims that today, "Microsoft is the only vendor that provides a truly hybrid integration platform," offering a consistent experience across on-premise or cloud-native applications. This in turn is enabled by Microsoft BizTalk Server and Azure Logic Apps.

Frank Weigel spelled out the details and significance of the Biz Talk Server 2016 release on Microsoft's Azure blog:

This is an important milestone that not only reinforces strong on-premises application integration capabilities, but also provides flexibility and control to our customers to adopt cloud applications as and when it makes sense for the business.
