Adxstudio supports Newtown recovery with OneNewtown.org community portal

Since the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut in December 2012, the flood of outside support and new internal discussions have brought new and unexpected challenges to the community--some technical, others collaborative and personal.  The town has received support from Microsoft's US State and Local Government group, as well as GE, which is based in nearby Fairfield, Connecticut and has over 150 employees who are town residents.  Microsoft has been helping the town manage its new supply chain needs caused by the huge influx of donations (there's still a two month backlog on responding to donations), while GE has been providing project management services.

Microsoft recently recommended the creation of a new web site to support communication and connectedness among Newtown residents - a site that could exist separately from the official town website that needed to be used to resume normal government operations.  They soon realized that a portal solution with its flexibility and range of community-oriented features, was needed. So Microsoft turned to Adxstudio Portals and Dynamics CRM Online to help create OneNewtown.org, and to do it quickly.

"Microsoft reached out two weeks ago asking for help," explained Dennis Ambrose, Adxstudio COO. "They wanted an approach that was cost effective to the town, and we decided it was an important community initiative that we wanted to support."

The Adxstudio team deployed version 6.0 of their Portals solution, in combination with Dynamics CRM Online and Microsoft Azure web sites, for the town.
