Security myth: Segregation of duties can be done at the duty level
Writing on his blog, Alex Meyer stated that although he's previously written about segregation of duties (SOD) in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations, he wanted to go over it again as part of the ongoing security myths series.
Meyer wrote that this time, the myth is that SOD can be managed only at the duty level in D365FO and doesn’t need to be applied at the level of securable objects, such as menu items, tables, or service operations.
In his blog post, Meyer explained what segregation of duties is, what native solution is available within D365 F&O, and the potential gaps that exist if a segregation of duties analysis isn’t done at the securable object level.
He also talked about the different ways to analyze SOD and what situations to consider when choosing the right method for your organization.
Dynamics 365 F&O on-premises: Step-by-step implementation and best practices
An author writing on the Demand Dynamics blog stated that moving to an on-premises version of D365 F&O gives you more control, better security, and stable costs. However, the author noted that it also means you’ll have to handle infrastructure and maintenance yourself.
