Microsoft 2024 Q4 Earnings: Record cloud bookings as Azure growth holds

Microsoft reported Q4 2024 financial performance today with earnings per share of $2.95 on revenue of $64.7 billion, slightly exceeding analyst estimates.

In announcing the results, CEO Satya Nadella highlighted the company’s role as a platform provider. 

“Our strong performance this fiscal year speaks both to our innovation and to the trust customers continue to place in Microsoft," Nadella stated. “As a platform company, we are focused on meeting the mission-critical needs of our customers across our at-scale platforms today, while also ensuring we lead the AI era.”

Microsoft Cloud quarterly revenue was $36.8 billion, up 21%. Business highlights announced by the company include:

  • Azure and other cloud services revenue growth of 29%
  • Dynamics products and cloud services revenue increased 16% driven by Dynamics 365 revenue growth of 19% (up 20% in constant currency)
  • Office 365 Commercial revenue growth of 13%

Full year revenue for 2024 was $245.1 billion, with earnings per share of $11.80, up 22% from 2023.

Last quarter, Microsoft reported earnings per share of $2.94 on revenue of $61.9 billion, exceeding analyst estimates.

A year ago, Microsoft reported earnings per share of $2.69 on revenue of $56.2 billion. Full-year revenue in 2023 was $211.9 billion with earnings of $9.68 per share.
