Prevent inventory adjust cost entries from back dating

On his Confessions of a Dynamics NAV Consultant blog, Alex Chow said that every company that uses the inventory module in Dynamics 365 Business Central understands that they must run the adjust cost - item entries process.

He said that when some companies run the adjust cost process, users will report that they experience unwanted entries made to the previous accounting periods.

That's because adjust cost process will always adjust to the date of the original sales transaction unless specified otherwise, according to Chow.

For example, you run the adjust cost process on 6/30/18. However, if you haven't run this process in a while, and a sales transaction occurred on 3/15/18 that has not yet been adjusted, the resulting adjusting entry will be on 3/15/18, Chow said. This will cause problems if you've already closed the books for March.
