Management Reporter: How Dynamics GP users can ensure a smoother month-end, year-end and audit
Year-end close cannot be too quick or too easy for Microsoft Dynamics users. For that matter, neither can a month-end close or an audit.
In his GPUG Summit 2017 session "Management Reporter Year End Reporting & Maintenance Tips," Nick Sercer will offer maintenance and upkeep tips for Management Reporter (MR) to keep it running smoothly year round, and to brace you for a smooth year-end close. Sercer is a partner and consultant with MSX Group, which offers a range of training, consulting and support services for Microsoft Forecaster, Microsoft FRx and MR.
Sercer will speak to both those new to MR, as well as inveterate users, "Because the year end is a big event for folks using GP; that there's a lot of stuff that needs to tie together," he says.
"[MR is] an integral part of your general ledger," says Sercer. "It's your primary view into your data, and for most companies, the primary way that they're looking at their financial statements."
Still, it is not a plug-and-play reporting tool. Sercer promises to detail features in Management Reporter that make it easier for users to generate reports regularly, "and quickly, so as not to overburden the user with having to run a lot of unnecessary steps," says Sercer. So, there is much to learn, even for those inveterate users.
