Microsoft Dynamics channel VP Tony de Freitas to depart

Microsoft veteran and Dynamics channel program director Tony de Freitas has announced he will be leaving for a new role.

In an email to partners, he revealed that he will be ending his position at the end of September and will be taking on a job managing the channel for enterprise research firm Qualtrics.

The loss of de Freitas comes just on the heels of the departure of Dynamics channel manager and strategist Jeff Edwards, who is leaving to run the global channel for GE's Energy Distribution division. de Freitas was  serving as the interim point of contact after Edwards departed.

In an interview published in June, de Freitas told Guus Krabbenborg that Dynamics partner organizations (specifically Dynamics 365/CRM partners) are at various levels of maturity in transforming to meet the demands of delivering Dynamics 365. He voiced encouragement at the rate of uptake of cloud-based CRM by VARs and stressed the importance of AppSource for the future.

"[W]e see AppSource as the flywheel for the ISV and IP partners. Fundamentally it is the destination for business users to find business SaaS applications," he said. He also urged partners to embrace SaaS, vertical markets, and a digital transformation ethos.

In his update email this week, de Freitas expressed his gratitude to the Dynamics partner channel, writing:
