Microsoft Dynamics Profile: NAVUG Summit Provides Guidance in Upgrade to Dynamics NAV 2015

by Dann Anthony Maurno
Assistant Editor, MSDW

American Ring is a family-owned company transitioning into a technology-focused era, and its Microsoft Dynamics NAV administrator, Holly Kutil is playing an important role in that change.

Based in Solon, Ohio, American Ring is a manufacturer and supplier of retaining rings, snap rings, and Belleville disc springs. At present, the company is on Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5, which dates back to 2006, and will be upgrading to Dynamics NAV 2015 later this year.

Much of the duty of the NAV upgrade falls upon Kutil, American Ring's manager of accounts receivable as well as its one-woman IT department. On top of that, she is a chapter leader of NAVUG's new Great Lakes chapter, serving northern Ohio, and will be a returning attendee at NAVUG Summit 2015.

Kutil is used to taking a self-taught approach. As she describes her career in accounting, "I've been in business for 30 years, and went from writing in a ledger to DOS to Windows, so I've learned a lot hands-on [as a software user]."

She described to MSDynamicsWorld.com just how she built up her expertise to lead a Dynamics NAV implementation and become a community contributor.
