Neudesic Pulse 4.2 adds secure on-premise file sharing
Neudesic today announced that Pulse 4.2, the latest update of its enterprise collaboration software, will add broad file sharing capabilities for inside and outside the organization.
Neudesic Pulse 4.2 adds both web-based and mobile file sharing interfaces. Users have folder-level access rights for greater control of shared files. They can organize digital files via the file app repository, share files with a group, upload new files with automatic versioning, preview documents, and provide comments for designated viewers to see.
The on-premise control of file sharing is a response to enterprise concerns with the risks of cloud-based file sharing services, said Pulse general manager Jason Noble in a statement. "With Neudesic Pulse 4.2, we're helping them share files efficiently with the assurance that their files are secure in web-based and mobile environments."
In addition to file-based collaboration and viewing via the web and native mobile clients, Pulse also maintains audit history of files including how often they are viewed, downloaded, and shared.
Pulse 4.0, which became available in late 2013, added new features around defining rich business profiles, managing user information on skills and endorsements, and providing analysis about an employee's based on configurable factors. For example, a law firm might define user attributes like court affiliations or bar membership. An oil and gas company could track employees' certifications to work on oil rigs by geography.
