Today's Microsoft Dynamics AX Webcast: A Big Data scenario any AX manufacturer could love

Microsoft's efforts in Big Data have focused on creating services based on the Apache Hadoop framework that can be used as a cloud service, forgoing some of the most complex and expensive aspects of doing real big data analysis. But access to the technology is only a first step - if you're a manufacturer, especially one without statisticians and computer scientists on staff, the ability to spin up and use Hadoop big data server resources might still leave you scratching your head. 

We've seen past discussion of the types of questions that big data could help answer in the Dynamics CRM realm, but for manufacturers running Microsoft Dynamics AX, today's webcast, Enterprise Architecture: What it Means for Manufacturers and Microsoft Dynamics AX, presented by Microsoft technical architect Alex Anikiiev, will shine a light on several newly published examples of how AX customers can take advantage of the latest Microsoft products like HDInsight and apply them to  key manufacturing scenarios. In the case of HDInsight, how to use unstructured log data in OEE (overall equipment effectiveness) Optimization.

Anikiiev has recently written up a new article exploring how manufacturers might get started using HDInsight and .NET to gather unstructured equipment run log file data and use the Hadoop kernel, MapReduce and Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) and other components to develop the method for organizing the data and using HDInsight in the cloud to scale up enough resources to process terabytes or even petabytes of information. The result is real, usable tabular data that can help tell a more accurate story on OEE optimization.
