Options for Storing Employees in CRM 2011: Over at the PowerObjects blog, JoeCRM says there are a number of reasons why an organization would want to store employees in a customer-focused implementation of Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
"The most common reason is that employees (some being non-users) are a part of a process such as assigning a record to employees, notifying employees, or inviting employees to a meeting," he says.
In this blog post, JoeCRM talks about the various options for storing employees in CRM 2011, as well as the considerations when doing so.
"In considering how best to store employees in Microsoft Dynamics CRM, don't forget to consider security," he says. "Determine who needs to access (view, edit, and delete) employee records, and who does not need to access. If you repurpose contacts or users for employees, you will have less control over security because your security model must support multiple uses of the same entity. By creating a custom entity for employees, you can control the rights separately."
Installing and uninstalling DLL's into the GAC: Hosk says there will probably come a time in every CRM developer's life when he will have to install a DLL into the GAC.
"The reason you might want to do this is so you code can access the dll's and methods without having to have the DLL included with your code. A good example of this is if you have some code which is used in all of your CRM plugins, you can load the dll into the GAC and then all the plugins ...
